A downloadable game for Windows

"My name is Wilbur Smithers. Recently, I bought a new house for dirt cheap. It was like, $60."

According to my legit real estate agent, the previous owners were amateur cultists. After many occultic experiments, this normal looking surburban house turned into a dungeon full of monsters and danger lurking at every corner.

My mission is to cleanse this house of all evil. With soap. And water. And a nice pair of rubber gloves.

You monsters better get ready, cause it’s time for some Residential House Cleaning, or as I would like to call it, REHQ. With a Q. Because I find that letter underappreciated."

This short game was made for the HQ_RESIDENTIAL_HOUSE_GAME_JAM

Note: This dungeon is supposed to resemble the upper floor of the asset. We decided not to create the groundfloor (No game crunch for us, please). Depending on reception and motivation, we might expand the game to include the ground floor (and more monsters) in the future. But we're quite happy with how it's turned out so far. Tell us what you think!

Also, this game has 7 eastereggs, just for funsies. :)

The game is made in the old blender game engine. Don't worry, it is a game you're downloading, not just a 3d model. :-)

where did you get the voice? its really funny :D

(1 edit)

Haha, thank you. :)

It's a heavily modified me. It was really hard on my voice. Had to lower my pitch irl, make it really raspy. Then I pitched it even further down digitally + bitcrusher effect.

This game takes me back, in a weird strange way that has me hungering for more-

Good to hear! :)

Finally!! Your Game!! The Legend!! The myth!!1 The masterpiece!!
Now, let me start with saying that this entry in the Jam is Top 1 for me and it's just wonderful! This is very objective opinion, I love this game not because of my great passion to BGE, but there are many other reasons. First, voice acting, which is intentionally GREAT, second of all mechanics and style, so unique and soo done with hard work to fit the vibe. Retro style games are fun, I don't play most of them, but this one is not unique because of that feature only, it's because of the dungeon look a like adventure.
And in the end, why is it the best? I've reviewed 26 games in this game jam and yours' is the only one with the idea of the H.Q. residential house to look like this, to have the REHQ feel to it, that's just master work, really. Very glad to see this game to play it, hope to see more of you soon and often! Good Luck!

Thank you Niven! Glad we hit the nail on the head for you.
Best of luck to you too with your future games!

I really enjoyed your work. I hope it will be expanded, bringing more news. Congrats.

Thanks for playing and the screen recording! We'll be studying the video closer (for player behaviour and more). This is really helpful :)

Hello there! I stumbled upon the REHQ article on your gamejournalism site. We really apreciate it and were just wondering if you could insert a credit for Spottedphyre as well. They're the co-creator and main artist of the game, so it'd be nice to have their name in the article as well. :)

Thanks in advance!

I already added there, thanks for the tip.

Awesome! Thank you so much :D

That was pretty fun lol. Still don't know how I beat the bathroom.

Glad you enjoyed it! :D

If by beating you mean killing the giant toilet, then there's no way.
It's not communicated that well, but the toilet is unbeatable. You just need to get the eye from the d*** and run away. :)
